Read MoreIndians are referred as the big farmers from ancient times. The main occupation of major part of Indians was farming in the traditional days. With the invasion of foreign sources in the country, trading the Indian cultivated items grew fast. Slowly the major ratios of Indian farmers were split into several sections, in spite of this maximum of Indians preferred farming as their main occupation.
In the ancient days, there was no requirement of importing food products from other countries, but the growing population and decrease in cultivation raised this requirement. In these modern days, the farmers are getting helpless. Global warming has impacted the farmers in high with the decrease in monsoon rain.
Farmers are facing droughts and low cultivation which have even impacted Indian economy and rise in price of agricultural products. With bad climatic condition, insufficient rainfall and unfair trading, the Indian farmers are finding it difficult to sustain farming due to less profit and the adverse climatic conditions.
Rather than bearing the huge losses in farming, Indian farmers are finding it feasible to sell their farming lands and move towards the city in search of better opportunity. The growing industrialization even has helpfully turned as boons for them. But is it the solution! What about our tradition of centuries and how would it impact on our upcoming generations!
Though few of the farmers are opting to move towards the urban area, some still haven’t lost their hopes and are carrying out their ancestral occupation that is farming. Few of the farmers who have collected money by selling their lands have started adapting new allied businesses and are getting highly profited. The left out farmers who still have hope for any miracle for their occupation must even be dragged out of the ditch in which they have fallen. Opting for allied business can be profitable for them. Among the many alternatives, Agrotourism or Agritourism would be highly influencing as well as profitable.
The term Agrotourism is defined in different ways in several countries. This is considered as the niche tourism with high growth. The farmers of major countries around the world have started reaping excellent benefits getting associated with the business.
Every farmer would love to grab the benefits getting dragged out from the trauma of losses in farming. On the other hand, urban life style needs stress-relieving remedies for which the residents in the urban areas prefer to spend some quality time in the lap of nature.
Being away from the hectic and rush urban life, the residents in the urban areas plan either their weekends or summer trips towards the dense greenery. Some have established their farm houses in the interiors. Some people, who are very far away than the rural lifestyle and world of farming, are getting interested to know about the food cultivation process.
Meeting the farmers and the food processors, they acquire knowledge of food production. The children of urban areas lead a modernized urban lifestyle which doesn’t let them get aware about the food products they consume every day. Visiting the farm lands they would develop their knowledge regarding different type of food crops.
The farming lands can be made offbeat weekend destinations where people from urban areas would visit the farmlands and gain knowledge. If the farmers in India adopt the concept of Agrotourism, then it would be advantageous for them in an extravagant way. The visitors would encouragingly visit and experience the agricultural life.
The Urban people are looking for out of the box travel options and not narrowing their travel choices to popular destinations and willing to spend time close to nature. Witnessing the real experience of farming they would make their weekend or vacation trip amazing.
With India’s diverse crop pattern, ecological conditions, culture & need of urban people, Agrotourism will flourish in near future. The residents of urban areas can pick the fruits and vegetables from the trees directly. This is highly valuable for the urban children and is considered to be practical education pattern. With this, the farmers can generate revenue and create a market identity.
This article is meant to create awareness among the Indian farmers about the increasing demand for offbeat weekend places, out there in market. This can be highly helpful for them in all ways and features the unavoidable reason of adopting Agrotourism.Â
