Read More“Jam-packed roads, crowded parks, polluted rivers and concrete jungles—these have become the highlights of living in a modern city. Finding a place within the city limits to spend quality time with family or friends is impossible considering the shrinking nature corridors. However, the idea of planning a picnic beyond city limits is always open, especially on weekends and vacations.
Let us launch a planner for your next family outing with some really helpful pointers.
How much time do you intend to spend travelling to the place and back? Most family outings turn hectic due to the long hours of travel. Any place that is within 70 kilometer radius is fine for family outing, especially if it is a one day affair. Driving to your destination is always a great option.
There is always more to the place than what meets the eye. Researching about the nearby places around the picnic spot is an experience in itself. An ancient temple or a shady forest trail is always round the corner, not to forget the dotting village and a serene pond.
Chart out the road conditions leading to the spot. Use navigation apps to find out more about the place. Find out in advance if the place is safe for a family outing. Connect with the local tourist guides to help you out with finding places to eat and rest. Always locate the nearest police station and hospital in case of an emergency.
If you have kids and elderly in the group, always pack extra camping items. Bananas, chocolates, brown bread sandwiches, cucumber, dry fruits and boiled eggs are healthy snacks that can be enjoyed while you travel to the destination. Carry few extra bottles of mineral water. Taking couple of cartons of 1-Litre packaged drinking water reveal smartness. Pack comforting stuffs like cushions, inflatable mattress, umbrellas, torch lamps and extra set of fully-charged phone batteries that always come handy. Don’t forget about your first-aid kit and insulin shots.
It is always “more the merrierâ€. A group of 10-15 people allow you to enjoy team activities. Organize small games and events with a family appeal like Tug-of-War, musical chair, Passing the Parcel, Dumb charades and card games. Diversity in the group also helps, as it allows the kids to learn more about the relationships.
Form a team and divide responsibilities among the group. It is always great to have a cook, a jester, a photographer and an insomniac in the team! It gives everyone the chance to enjoy the talent and still not miss out on the fun part.
Fun apart, there are some serious “No-No†activities you should avoid in a picnic with family. For instance, never get into an argument with a local. Avoid littering the place with plastics and paper. If possible, carry extra plastics bags to collect your waste. Moreover, respect the customs of the local villagers. Dress appropriately without compromising on your comfort.
Strictly avoid smoking and drinking alcohol at the picnic spot. It could offend the local people and other picnickers. Stick to your group, and don’t include anyone you don’t know.
Be kind and helpful to others, if the need arises. Most importantly, offering tips in kind and money at appropriate occasion is always welcome and appreciable.
If you find managing a picnic yourself complex, always start with the idea of a countryside farm tour. They offer ample scope of exploring new farm activities, cherishing delectable cuisines and bonding together in privately owned cottages and farm houses. Make the most of every minute you stay at the farm with an elaborately planned activity sheet shared the moment you set your foot there.
